Civil Air Patrol Encampment

From August 11th to the 19th, the boys attended the Civil Air Patrol encampment in Juneau. Encampment is the equivalent of basic training for Civil Air Patrol cadets. I had the priviledge of attending too, as Senior Member staff. The boys learned many "jodies" to get them through all the marching they did. They looked for ELT beacon signals, learned self defense, toured a Coast Guard station, did lots of PT, learned about all the different branches of military service, learned to iron, became very proficient at polishing their boots and shoes, and now know how to use their diaphragms when they shout "HOORAH!". It was a very full 9 days. We travelled up on an Air Guard C-130, and got to return back to Ketchikan on a C-17. It was so awesome and they are both ready to attend another encampment, but this time as cadet staff. They now need to get from Airman to atleast Staff Sergeant by next summer in order to be able to qualify as staff.
