On our final day south, Grandpa took Mitchell to the gun range. Mitchell showed Grandpa what he could do first with the 22. Then he got to shoot the 30 Carbine. He certainly loved that, as that is one of the guns used in this Call of Duty video games. While getting the .25-06 ready for Mitchell to shoot, he excitedly calls out, "Grandpa and Dad....Look a deer!" We were all amazed to see a doe walk out halfway between the 100 and 200 yard backstops. We used this time for him to look at that deer through the scope, with an unloaded rifle of course, so he could see exactly what a deer looks like through a scope. After she wandered off, Mitchell proceeded to "ring" two 5-6 inch steel targets in the tires at 100 yards, and put a couple really close together in the circle at 200 yards. Both Grandpa and I were really proud of him.
